Ontario residents can now enjoy iconic Häagen-Dazs flavours in new reusable packaging

Starting today, Häagen-Dazs fans can enjoy their favourite ice cream responsibly with the Canadian debut of Nestlé Canada’s Häagen-Dazs reusable packaging, in partnership with Loop Sustainable Home Delivery Service and Loblaw Companies Limited.

Häagen-Dazs, made in London, Ontario, from Canadian dairy, is the official ice cream partner available in the Canadian pilot of Loop’s waste-free shopping platform. Loop is an innovative and sustainable grocery and household goods delivery service using only reusable packaging and is launching to 5,000 residents across Ontario, following a successful expansion in the US and Europe. Ice cream lovers will enjoy the same quality and indulgence they know and love; now in zero-waste packaging.

A Sweet Partnership in Sustainability

Since day one, Häagen-Dazs has been committed to taking the purest, most responsibly sourced ingredients and transforming them into extraordinary ice cream experiences.

Among the hundreds of products available through Loop, Häagen-Dazs proudly debuts on the Loop platform with two of its most irresistible flavours: Coffee and Vanilla. Häagen-Dazs Coffee Ice Cream features only the finest roasted Brazilian coffee beans and its best-selling Vanilla, blends Madagascar vanilla with pure, sweet cream for the ultimate treat.

Today, all Häagen-Dazs ice cream bar cartons are recyclable, and the brand is working towards ensuring that 100% of its packaging is reusable or recyclable by 2025. With the launch of Loop, Häagen-Dazs is debuting its latest sustainable packaging solution with its new reusable double-walled steel packaging, which keeps the ice cream at an optimal temperature from the time it’s filled until the first delicious scoop. The canister design ensures that when opened, the ice cream melts more quickly at the top than at the bottom of the container, ensuring that every scoop is in perfect condition.

Closing the Loop

Loop is a first-of-its-kind service from global recycling organization, TerraCycle, with Nestlé as a founding investor and partner. Announced at the World Economic Forum in 2019, Loop was created to provide a solution to one of the world's most pressing environmental issues: waste. Häagen-Dazs, alongside brands from other major CPG industry partners, examined its supply chain to identify ways to innovate in packaging, production and distribution. At the same time, it was determined that the new service should maintain affordability and improve convenience for the consumer experience.
