So what do you do when a new client calls late on a Friday afternoon asking what you can do to leverage them signing home run king Jose Bautista at an event… in less than a week? You turn on a dime and hit it out of the park with a PR campaign that came out swinging using a whole lot of creativity and hard work!

Booster Juice, a company known not only for it’s delicious and healthy smoothies but also for encouraging Canadians to live active and healthy lifestyles, approached us late last week with an offer we couldn’t turn down: create an event for them to announce that Jose Bautista has signed his first-ever endorsement deal with a Canadian company.

Knowing Jose loves to give back to Toronto – his favourite city – we pitched the idea of an interactive meet and greet to give fans a “boost” which would also give media an opportunity to chat with Jose outside of the confines of the locker room. With only three days to rally the troops, SO launched into full-scale event planning mode and got on the phones with media encouraging them to come out…

On July 28th, with more than 300 fans lined up for a chance to meet MLB great Jose and to get his autograph – some even arrived at 4:00 a.m. by public transit! – and 15 media outlets in attendance, SO hit the ball out of the park at the Booster Juice in Telus Tower in Toronto.

“We heard great things about Strategic Objectives and they definitely delivered for us and for the fans in Toronto,” said Dale Wishewan, the President and CEO of Booster Juice. “With just a few days notice, they worked as a team to plan and execute a fantastic event that will go a long way in bringing awareness to Booster Juice and our great new partnership with Jose Bautista. The media mosh pit they created was great!”
